Dr. William Elliott is the JP Morgan Chase Bank Professor in Business Administration and Professor of Finance. His PhD in Finance, with a minor in Econometrics, is from the University of Arizona. Prior to that, he completed his MBA at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and has a BS in Oceanography from Texas A&M University. His research has been published in top finance journals, such as the Journal of Business, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, Financial Management, and the Journal of Banking and Finance. Dr Elliott’s research focuses on the capital structure of firms, the effects of changes in the S&P 500 index, stock splits, and the “share price puzzle.” Prior to coming to UTEP, Dr. Elliott was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Oklahoma State University and at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Before becoming an academic, Dr. Elliott was employed by Glastron Boat Company as an engineering manager and materials manager.
