Dr. James (Jim) Holcomb graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso with a B.B.A in Economics and Finance. He earned a M.A. in Economics from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University. In 1985, he joined the faculty at UTEP. His research areas are behavioral economics and finance and experimental methods. His research has been published in such journals as Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Rationality and Society, and Journal of Socio-Economics. He served as an Associate Vice Provost for Research and Sponsored Projects and as Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration. Jim and his wife, Priscilla, have two children, Alex and Rachel. He is active in competitive swimming, serving as general chair of Border Swimming, a local swim committee of USA Swimming. His main hobby is serving as a national championship swimming official.
