Welcome to the Department of Information and Decision Sciences homepage. The IDS Department offers graduate and undergraduate courses in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Production/Operations Management (POM), and Quantitative Methods in Business (QMB).

The Department of Information and Decision Sciences Mission is to provide the highest quality of education to the citizens of El Paso and the West Texas region and is in line with the mission of the College of Business Administration. In support of The University of Texas efforts, The Department provides a wide access to quality higher education which allows our graduates to be competitive in the job market in the fields of Production and Operations Management and Computer Information Systems.

Dr. Himanshu Shee from Victoria University (Melbourne, Australia) visited COBA and the IDS department to share his research and define collaborative research projects.

June 2011
Dr. Jose Ablanedo visited Yiwu City (China) known as the “world supermarket”. He joined researchers from Zhejiang Normal University and investigated the new business model that arose in Yiwu. This research will appear in the International Journal of Logistics Systems and Management.

Summer 2011
Dr. Jose Ablanedo is invited to present his research at Zhejiang Gongshang University and Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics located in Hangzhou, the capitol city of Zhejiang Province, China
